Meet Laura

I'm Laura and have been raising sheep and lambs since 2007. I have always loved and cared for horses, and wanted a smaller livestock creature to give my horse company. A meat breed of sheep was chosen known as Katahdin. These sheep shed their winter coats each year and are naturally great mothers. There are about 25 ewes and 1 ram living here and each spring about 50 to 60 lambs are born. A few lambs stay here, but most of them are sold to other small farms to be natural lawn mowers, flocks on other farms, or grown out for meat. Each year there are several lambs who I need to be bottle fed. Although this is very time consuming, the lambs become very friendly. If the lambs are orphans or their mothers reject them, they are fed while kept with groups of other friendly moms.

Katahdin's are great moms! The ewe, with her lambs ,above or on the left, is Katahdin and her young twin ewe lambs are 50% Katahdin / 50% Dorper.
