Our Sheep and Lambs
Ewes (Moms)
All the ewes here are purebred commercial Katahdin sheep. The Katahdin breed of sheep are great moms, easy keepers, have strong parasite resistance, they fully shed their coats by July, and have rock solid hooves. In terms of meat sheep, they are a milder flavor of meat sheep, and since all their lambs are raised on our rich green pasture grass, the meat is very rich in Omega-3 fatty acids.

The Katahdin ewes and their guardian horse, Remington
Ram (Dad)
The ram chosen for 2024 is a full blood commercial Dorper with a black head. By crossing Katahdin ewes with a Dorper ram, the lambs will either look just like the ram, having a black head and white body, or they will display a mixture of colors. Dorper sheep are a shorter stockier breed of meat sheep as compared to the Katahdins, and they also produce a mild flavor of meat. Dorpers are also hair sheep, so the offspring lambs should all shed. Both breeds are considered polled (they don't have horns) so the lambs should also be polled.
All the lambs for 2025 will be
50% Katahdin / 50% Dorper.
